Market Intelligence is a research firm that specializes in the fact-based measurement and analysis of the retail financial services and wealth management industry. We focus on competitive intelligence, analysis of key trends and market measurement to identify the most accurate information possible for our clients.

The Data Analyst, is a full-time entry-level position that supports the Data Operations Team for ISS’s Market Intelligence Research business. Data Operations is responsible for collection, management and data production inclusive of ad-hoc data projects supporting Research Analysts. Type of data includes mutual funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), fund wraps, deposits, market-linked notes, segregated funds etc.

The Data Analyst will report directly to the DataOps lead, and work with Analysts, Associates and other data support roles on the team.

Position Profile

We are looking for analytical and technically savvy individuals to join our team. Ideal candidates will have a high level of independent judgment, an incredible attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment both in a team setting and autonomously. This role is ideal for someone who is looking for a position that is going to be challenging, demand high performance, but will give them hands-on experience working with data, financial analytics and some light automation.

Responsibilities Include

  • Collect data based on established methodologies, comply with established work process and performance standards to ensure timely and high-quality data
  • Validate, clean and input sourced data into ISS internal systems and database tools
  • Create high quality reports and other deliverables for internal research teams
  • Participate in data quality assurance efforts, including performing root-cause analysis for identified data quality issues
  • Support relevant process improvement and technology projects by contributing to specifications and testing deliverables
  • Help maintain documentation of work processes and institutional knowledge in a centralized, web-based database
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Repetitive data entry

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree – preferably in finance, economics, computer information systems or other business/data related field
  • 0-3 years of experience in a professional corporate environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Prior professional or educational knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn new data and technology concepts
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Ability to adapt to performing various and changing tasks throughout the work day
  • Ability to synthesize data from multiple sources
  • Ability to independently manage time
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible working hours; willing to work day, mid, and night shifts as necessary

Experience working with any of the following would be a plus:

  • Work experience relevant to Data Operations and the financial services industry
  • SPSS software experience
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL
