Job Overview:
The Dental Assistant performs 4-handed dental assisting procedures including set-up, breakdown, maintenance and sterilization of dental instruments and equipment. Takes inventory in all patient rooms, identifies shortages of supplies, and reports the shortages to leadership. Maintains log book and takes responsibility for cases to be sent to outside dental labs. Works closely with leadership, Dentists, and patients to ensure high quality patient care.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma required.
NJ Dental Radiography License required
Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)/Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) strongly preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in 4-handed dental assisting in a private practice or hospital setting required.
Essential Functions:
• Chairside assisting, instrument passing, retraction, suctioning, and maintaining clear field of vision for the dentist. This includes laboratory procedures. Assist in operating room when necessary.
• Keeps dental units, cabinets and carts appropriately supplied clean, neat, orderly as described in the policy manual, performing routine unit maintenance and reports all equipment repair needs to the supervisor.
• Assure instrument sterilization and organization within the Dental Dept as well as through Central Supply.
Take inventory and request medical supplies and materials, as needed
