Job Description

Summary

The Certified Nurse Practitioner practices in Employee Health to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management. The NP practices to the full extent of their education - training - and certification. Core functions are outlined in the clinical privileges that correspond with this position.

Duties

  • Patient Care: Conduct comprehensive and focused health assessments of employees - including history-taking - physical examinations - and diagnostic testing
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic occupational illnesses and injuries
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans

  • Health Promotion and Disease Prevention: Health Promotion and Disease Prevention: Design and implement health promotion and disease prevention programs targeting workplace-related health issues
  • Conduct periodic health screenings and vaccinations in accordance with VA guidelines
  • Provide education on workplace safety - ergonomics - and the prevention of occupational injuries and illnesses
  • Case Management: Manage complex cases involving occupational injuries and illnesses - including coordination of care plans - follow-up appointments - and evaluations for return-to-work
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams - including HR - safety officers - and other healthcare providers - to ensure comprehensive employee health management
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in accordance with VA standards and guidelines
  • Professional Development: Participate in continuing education opportunities to maintain current knowledge and skills relevant to the role
  • Attend departmental and interdisciplinary meetings to stay informed of organizational policies and practices
  • Mentor and provide guidance to nursing staff and other healthcare professionals within the employee health program
  • Administrative Duties: Assist in the development and update of policies and procedures related to employee health services
  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives
  • Prepare and present reports on employee health trends and program effectiveness to leadership
