Working Conditions

• May be directed to act in a lead role for completing assignments involving other staff and teams. Must be able to logically organize and present positions, identify problems, and formulate recommendations. Must have ability to work independently and in the field with a minimum of supervision, and to form and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff at the federal, State, and local level. Incumbent must use tact and diplomacy in dealing with others. Must have the ability to speak before public gatherings and effectively present the Department's position and provide understandable technical information. Occasional travel for business related activities may be required.
  

Special Requirements

2. Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment. If it is determined a candidate does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS

Statement of Qualifications

Aviation Officer II (Flight Operations)

Along with your application, you must submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ). A SOQ is a discussion of your experience that would qualify for this position. At the top of the SOQ, please write your name and address all items noted below. Resumes are required and DO NOT take the place of the SOQ.

1. How many in-command flight hours have you completed for the following?

a. Fixed Wing Total Time:

b. Rotary Wing Total Time:

c. Describe what records were used to provide the In-Command flight hours (i.e., log books, employer’s records, etc.)

2. If using Pattern III of the Minimum Qualifications to meet the requirements for the entrance examination, please answer the following:

a. Low-Level Mission Total Time: How many flight hours have you worked as a pilot in-command for low-level missions?

b. Describe what records were used to provide the Low-Level Mission In-Command flight hours (i.e., log books, employer’s records, etc.)

Required Application Package Documents

The following items are required to be submitted with your application. Applicants who do not submit the required items timely may not be considered for this job:

• Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at All Experience and Education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included to demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications for the position.
