Youth Director Job Description

(Grades 7 - 12) April 16, 2026

Qualifications:

1. Have an active relationship with Jesus Christ as your Savior

2. Love youth and their families and support their walk with Christ

3. Must feel a calling from God to be in youth ministry

4. Possess strong leadership and organizational skills

5. Communicate and form relationships with youth, families, volunteers, and church staff

6. Commit to moral purity and maintain a biblical lifestyle and integrity

7. Must agree with the church’s “Statement of Faith” outlined in the CONSTITUTION AND COVENANT

Accountability:

1. The Youth Director reports directly to the Senior Pastor and is accountable to the Pulpit Committee and Board of North Christian Church.

2. All candidates will have to undergo a background check prior to employment.

3. Must attend the New Member class and become a member of this church.

4. Will support the ministry of North Christian Church with the attendance of immediate family (if applicable).

Responsibilities:

1. Research devotions, study lessons, and teach the youth weekly lessons that stress core biblical principles and lead discussions that encourage spiritual growth

2. Communicate with parents/guardians through email, social media, and phone/text messaging

3. Organize volunteers to assist with youth

4. Assist the youth in planning youth services on the fifth Sunday of the month

5. Attend 2 summer camps (Jr High/Sr High, 10 days)

6. Compile age and church appropriate games for youth

7. Communicate with the church secretary about youth events that affect the calendar

8. Plan and organize fund raising

9. Meet with the youth weekly throughout the calendar year

10. Youth finances are to be maintained by the Youth Finance Committee.

This is a part-time position that will require 20-25 hours per week. Starting salary is $20,000.

In this role, you will develop engaging activities, provide mentorship, and support the holistic development of children and teenagers. Your leadership will create a welcoming environment that encourages faith, learning, and meaningful connections, empowering youth to reach their full potential through faith-based initiatives and community outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee youth programs, events, and activities that promote spiritual growth and community engagement.
  • Provide mentorship and Christian counseling to young people navigating life’s challenges with compassion and understanding.
  • Lead age-appropriate teaching sessions that incorporate biblical principles and values to nurture faith development.
  • Coordinate volunteer efforts, recruit youth leaders, and foster teamwork among staff and volunteers to ensure program success.
  • Develop partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and churches to expand outreach efforts.
  • Facilitate workshops on social skills, leadership development, and life skills tailored for youth audiences.
  • Manage fundraising initiatives to support youth programs and ensure resources are available for impactful activities.

Experience

  • Proven experience working with children or teenagers in educational, religious, or community settings.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire young people and team members alike.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively connect with youth, parents, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Background in social work, teaching, or related fields is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of bereavement support and hospice care is a plus for providing compassionate guidance during difficult times.
  • Experience in event planning and organizing youth-focused activities is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Christian counseling principles and mentoring techniques to support spiritual growth.

Pay: From $20,000.00 per year
