We are seeking several detail-oriented and motivated Tax Accountants to join our growing public accounting practice, at all levels. In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation and compliance of individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure to various industries, complex tax issues, and direct client interaction.
The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a solid foundational understanding of tax law, and a commitment to professional growth. CPA license or actively on the CPA track is preferred , but we welcome experienced professionals who demonstrate a strong track record in public accounting.
Tax Preparation & Compliance: Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, C-Corporations, S-Corporations, estates, and trusts.
Tax Research & Planning: Conduct research on tax laws, regulations, and court rulings to address complex tax issues and support tax planning strategies for clients.
Financial Data Analysis: Review and analyze client financial records, including balance sheets and income statements, to ensure accurate tax adjustments and reporting.
IRS & State Correspondence: Assist in responding to inquiries, notices, and audits from the IRS and state/local taxing authorities.
Client Advisory: Maintain professional communication with clients to gather necessary financial data, explain tax positions, and provide exceptional service.
Collaboration: Work closely with senior managers and partners on complex advisory projects and assist in mentoring junior staff or interns as needed.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. A Master’s in Taxation (MST) is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 1–3+ years of recent experience in a public accounting firm handling tax preparation and compliance.
Credentials: CPA certification or active eligibility/intent to sit for the CPA exam is preferred.
Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with professional tax software (e.g., UltraTax, ProConnect, CCH Axcess, or GoSystem) and accounting platforms like QuickBooks. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
